Ice Dam Damage Repair in College, AK

Ice dam damage repair fixes the roofing and trim that ridges of ice at the eaves have damaged over winter. College, AK Storm Damage Roof Repair handles this across College, AK in the northern half of our service area, where it is a seasonal certainty rather than a possibility.

An ice dam forms when heat escaping into the attic melts snow on the upper roof. That meltwater runs down to the eave, which stays at outside temperature because there is no heated space beneath it, and refreezes there. The ridge builds over days, and water pooling behind it backs up under the shingles, because shingles shed water going down and do nothing at all against water sitting still.

The repair and the cause are separate jobs, and both matter. We replace damaged shingles, underlayment, and the soffit and fascia that ice has pulled away. Then we look at why it happened, which is nearly always attic insulation and ventilation rather than the roof itself.

A roof that keeps forming dams every year needs the heat loss addressed. Ice and water shield along the eaves during a replacement is the durable fix, and it is code in much of the snow belt for good reason.
